  
This thematic unit is designed to teach the simple shapes: square, circle, triangle, rectangle, oval, diamond (rhombus) and others. Have the students become familiar with these shapes by making a shape mobile, shape paper bag puppets, shape bulletin board border and even a shape necklace! Other art activities include shape people with fan-folded arms and legs, plus a funny shape clown.
Language arts projects include a shape cover for a writing journal, flash cards with the names and pictures of shapes and special frames for drawing shapes. The reproducible mini-book features cartoon shape people and their houses that fit their distinctive shapes. Certificates are also included to reward your students once they can name all of the shapes!.
