Let's go shopping! This thematic unit combines math, reading, writing, art and more in many fun and educational activities. Before we go shopping, though, we need a shopping cart. No problem! Each student makes his/her own cut and paste 3-D cart that actually holds their purchase! Next, it is off to the clothing store to buy something for their bears to wear. We've included the reproducible bears, the clothing, the accessories, and even the dollar bills! You can change the prices on the items to adapt this activity to any grade level!

We visit a cut and paste mall where we see what's for sale in a grocery store, a jewelry shop, a clothes store, and every child's favorite, a toy store! Your students will design their own box of cereal, create a story in their own shopping book, and write about what they bought on shopping cart-shaped stationery. 

The reproducible mini-book included in this unit is entitled Cody Goes Shopping and details the week-long shopping adventures of a little boy. You will love how this mini-book integrates subtraction and the days of of the week with a humerous storyline. The Shopping unit features thematic flash cards and concludes with two end-of-the-unit certificates: one to send home and one for the classroom "Wall of Fame."
