Thematic Unit: Transportation

Teachers. . .start your engines!!! Get behind the wheel of this exciting theme and drive away with loads of fast-paced educational ideas! Start by creating a thematic writing book, in the shape of a truck, for each student. They will love playing reading games with the picture and vocabulary flash cards. Watch as they use their imaginations to write on super-sized train stationery that will travel across the walls of the classroom. 

We include a mini-storybook about Emergency Vehicles that instructs the student when and how to dial 9-1-1! There are art craft figures of transportation vehicles with real moving wheels, and paper bag puppets (boat, car and train) that are great for oral language activities.

Out on the road your students will need to read street signs. We have included three in which they have to cut out the letters and put them in correct order to create a stop sign, an exit sign and a railroad crossing sign. Use the enclosed traffic numberline to teach the students to count from 11-20, count to 100,  or to count by 2's 5's or 10's.
